- Got my Red-Ring'd Xbox 360 replaced for no charge today with a newer model
- Tried Saints Row 2 on doxinator's recommendation. Forgoing my first try at the aunt's place of an obese topless Asian man with a blonde afro, I have made a white chick with a black beehive hairdo in a cocktail dress. All the better to cap some asses with!
- Finished Fallout 3. That ending was shocking, but in another way, I couldn't see how anything else could have happened.
- Got Yukari accepted into discedo! Delicious canonmates, mmyes.
- Picked up some new clothes when Kim took me shopping the other day. +5 fashionable!
- Fucked your mom.

Feeling much better, too! Drive to write is back, RPing is going well, friends are back on track and I finally, finally finished Dragon Quest VIII after leaving it for about seven months. The urge to play the protag is...worrying. I'd really want a cast to play him off, though, and that's about as likely as a golden penguin.

Fallout 3 continues to amuse. Only in the Wasteland can ruthlessly murdering an entire town give you Good Karma, simply because they were slave-traders. Apparently there was an entire sub-quest where you go to a hidden orphanage and accept a quest to save the slave kids from the slaver town and THEN go there, but I had no idea of that. I just went in and killed them because SLAVE-TRADERS. B|

Anyway! Don't mind me, I just love the morality choices in that game. And the way the head explode. LET'S DO A MEME AND ALL MOVE ON.

Holy shit, I created Apollo's account exactly one year ago. October 27th, 2008. Happy...anniversary? You've lasted longer than anyone else.

Though fff, I think I know why; I might have waxed lyrical about this to other people, but the boy really resonates with me like no-one else I've ever played. In a way, I look up to him. Despite all the bad things that have happened in his life, he goes forward with that passionate heart burning red and commits himself to what he does. He doesn't stand for lies and mistruths, and while I don't really want to be the stick in the mud he can be, I still admire his resolve. For a time, while I didn't find myself thinking 'what would Apollo do here?', I still ended up acting a bit like him. Same deal with Souji Seta, but for different reasons.

So yes. One year of being the Pollybug! Go me. Go him. ♥

Left the house at 9am yesterday; had to buy a costume for a bro's 21st that night. Was informed about this on Wednesday, but whatever.

Ran around the city like a headless chicken until I found a totally awesome zombie outfit. Rented that shit and ran into the birthday boy and his girlfriend (my best friend, by the by, the bro was just a bro by assocation at the beginning) and ended up picking up Kat #1 to head back to their place to help prepare.

Spent the next three or so hours running around with balloons and ribbons and shit, getting things ready. Was blasted before the party even started. By which I mean TIRED, not drunk. No-booze Christian family, you know how it is.

Got some ballin' zombie makeup done by Kat #1. Many pictures were taken which I will show you guys once they make the rounds at Facebook. Sang far too much karaoke. Imma let you finish'd the whole party.

Got home at 1am today and slept for four hours. Somehow still woke up at 5am. Goddamn body clock.

And now I have a ten-hour shift at work! This will probably end horribly at some point, but whatever.

Yesterday, I think, was good.

...I don't think I got all the eyeliner off, though. Tips for that?

Status update: it is pretty good so far! I do love me some 1920s action, even if Jonesy Boat the 14th Raidou is actually kinda weird as shit. The levelling system is interesting, though. Now if only healing wasn't expensive as shit and Alps didn't CAST DIA AND PULINPA OVER AND OVER WASTING ALL THEIR MP IMMEDIATELY AAH. That would be lovely.

It's definitely hooking me more than Digital Devil Saga 2 did, though. Props to dat.

Also, for anyone I DIDN'T spaz about this too: I got Minato-style headphones last week! They are SO awesome, you have no idea. I am so happy with this purchase.

Otherwise, it's been a really damn lazy week. I've played copious amounts of Fallout 3, actually managed to stay inside the whole day for the first time in about a fortnight, and just done a lot of uninteresting stuff. Though there's a costume/birthday party I'm going to Friday as zombie House, so that'll be cool. Not getting any writing done, save for tags, but mmrph. Can't really bring myself to care. My headaches have been a little too harsh to focus properly, anyway.

I'm finding myself kinda happy that theoregontrail died around the same time as I dropped Rude from paradisa, though; having that weight off my shoulders is pretty good. Frankly, it was just getting tiring, keeping activity check with all of those. I did think it'd mean I'd write a bit more with my energies redirected, but ahurhur, apparently not.

I do rather mourn not playing Apollo as much anymore...even though I've been ferrying him over to 8_dressing again to keep that delicious love/hate going with Franziska. I think my enthusiasm for Yukari might be waning a touch, though. She's lasted about as long as Apollo by now, and that's a long time to be writing one character. Maybe Yukiko's booting her out?

Nothing else comes to mind! Fallout 3 is eating my life.

You know what I think I dislike more than anything? Repetitiveness.

There is nothing that turns me off faster than the same old, same old patterns, where nothing ever changes. I'm sure this is true to an extent for everyone, but I just get...almost aggressively bored when presented with something repeated over and over. I'm not one to advocate change for change's sake or ~*REVOLUTION*~ or something, but really. Small variations keep you from plunging into depression at everything being the same, I think.

It's why I use different words all the time. It's why I go to different places when I go out. It's why I heave that sigh the Skype kids know so well when OH LOOK. ANOTHER MOVIE WITH THE EXACT SAME PREMISE AND PLOT AS THE LAST. GO, ROMANTIC COMEDIES.

(Speaking of, I saw the Surrogates yesterday. It was good, but kinda felt like half a movie. I checked my phone for the time when things were just starting to ramp up, and there was only abbout 15 minutes of movie left.)

That reminds me, I was gonna posit a discussion thingie to you guys, since the last few went really well. Take this phrase:

I also caved today and dumped about $180 on a used Xbox 360 and Fallout 3. Say goodbye to the next chunk of forever, Jonesy!

Edit #1: It was pretty cool, though. I'd come back from the LAN cafe where PC Fallout 3 had crashed like five times in a row - but I'd caved in the whole Vault's heads with a baseball bat while playing as an albino chick in a baseball cap called Bonersaur, so my bloodlust was sated - and I thought man. I need to get a 360 so I can take my time.

Then I proceeded to AGONISE AGONISE OH GOD SPENDING MONEY AAAAAAGH for the next hour or so as I shopped around. I eventually ended up in my regular mall's Gametraders where I was staring at the 360s going AAAGH AAAAGH. SO EXPENSIVE. A NEW ONE IS $400 AND THE GAME IS $100. MUST CALCULATE FINANCES.

Then one of the ladies who works there popped a used 360 into the display case. The price? Fuckin' $149.95. And I had $53 on credit there from trading shit in.

I'm still not too psyched about paying full price for Fallout 3 itself, since I try not to do that, but it is done. And the best part?

The absolute best part?

They forgot to take out the game they were using to test the console when they packed it up. Free copy of Viva Pinata, bitches.

Then...work tomorrow, probably got a date with Suzanne on Thursday, and at this rate I'm gonna hit 22,000 words on the novel in the next few days.

It's been a good week.

Edit #2: Interesting responses! Personally, I've always seen it as a simple statement of truth, since I've used it a few times myself on my female BFF. She's got a boyfriend, I love her to bits but not romantically (b-because frankly I don't find her attractive, among other things), so I've said that to her.

I'd imagine the actual effect of the phrase would change depending on whether you're giving or receiving it, but I'd always seen it as an honest expression. Surprise surprise: a couple of the girls I hang out with? Their boyfriends actually think I'm interested in their girlfriends just because of my regular demeanour. Hur hur. Hearing it, on the other hand, would seem to cause confusion - especially if you're not fully understanding of the concept of platonic love, sadly like many people seem to be - so I would take that into account.

I feel good lately! Writing is going smoother, life is getting happier, and I'm thinking about scaling back RP a bit just so I'm not killing entire days on it ~~as often~~.

Thanks for all the input on that last post, guys! I won't burden you with the actual situation - though I'm sure some of you can guess - but suffice to say I'm glad that I have backup that it isn't just me being sensitive about the situation.

Anyway, Animania was today...and apparently Gencon was yesterday NO-ONE TOLD ME THIS AUUUUGH.

But I have pictures!

FIRST AND FOREMOST: MAYA. This is...the first I've ever seen, so I kinda keysmashed a little before asking for the picture. You can see behind her that there's an Ema as well, but they kind disappeared immediately after that so I could not get a picture.

The amount of Naruto, though, my goodness. I no longer think it's an utter shitfest since buying like two Naruto games cough cough, and it was pretty badass seeing such a huuuge cast coming out.

Also a Hinata wanted a hug as I was waiting in line. So there's that.

Oh shoot, I thought I had the Yuffie in this one. THERE WAS A YUFFIE ALSO ALONG WITH THIS AERIS.

Oh, and here's that Hinata. Did I mention that I was in line for one and a half hours? Screw door prices, I'm pre-registering next time.

And a White Mage! It's an anime con, so videogame stuff was low. But still, good stuff. :V

I headed into a room fairly early in the day where they were doing games and stuff. I recall this from last time; making a costume out of newspaper. I got bored of watching it after a couple of minutes and left.

AN HOUR LATER, they were just finishing up.

And these two! I...pretty much hung around this Kurenai and her buddy (someone from Princess Mononoke?) all day. They were fun and she dragged me into karaoke and videogame competitions and such.

And fff, this Gaara got tackled like twenty times that I saw. The Roxas was around last time too, I think, and he's badass.

There were also about two Tentens, which I was happy to see! She's my favourite character from what little I've played/read/watched. So naturally, she's the most minor of minor characters.

For some reason, there were about...four, five Tsunades strolling around? Odd. ~~I'm all for tits, but--~~

Got a question for you, f-list.

When should and shouldn't you take no for an answer? I'm posing this to all sorts of life things, not just a specific scenario. Are there times when a clear, firm 'no' (outside of sexual settings, obviously) should be utterly disregarded?

Because I'm a touch worried about this. Tell me what you think.

Edit: Okay, rad! Thanks for the input, guys, and I'd like to pose another one to you. What if the thing is entirely mundane? For example:

Them: Hey, I'm gonna eat the last cookie/use your car/not pay you back that 20 I owe you.

Them: Okay, I'm gonna do that.
You: No. Do not do that.

And then they do it anyway, possibly despite more clear, firm NO answers. Basically, hearing a no to a mundane request and disregarding it. Is this okay, or what?

But at least this has caused me to realise that a lot of MGF's stuff is actually...very repetitive, lyrics-wise. It's still brilliant, of course, but they really will only have a couple dozen words in a song. If the guitars weren't so damn sexy - and yes that descriptor is entirely apt, this is fucking sexy music - I might be disillusioned. Damn you, Pinky Beecroft.
