You know, since Saturday, I think I've clocked my first forty-hour week. I think I'd like to go back to slacking now. (EDIT #1: Hnnnngh looks like I'm working ten hour days today and tomorrow too WHOOOO) Feeling much better otherwise, though! Although hnnngh Internet is slowing down VERY early this month, please don't give me slow connection speed for Christmas. :C

Durrrp, that's about it, really; nothing much has been happening in Jonesyworld. I picked up Resident Evil 5 for Dad, since he has played RE4 to DEATH, and Parappa the Rapper 2 for myself, which I am...failing pretty miserably at. Boo.

Still feeling that disconnect from Discedo, too. I love the Persona cast there, but other than that, I don't really want to get into it any further than I have to, you know? I figured if I just pushed through it, maybe, but...nope, not really.
On the upside, Paradisa is going from strength to strength! I was initially hesitant when I introed Apollo there, but now he's settled in, I think I'll be happy with him and Yukiko for awhile. It's a thing, really; if I have three characters in there, no matter how much I love them, I immediately start getting stressed and worrying about AC. With just two, I can take my time and hit it, no troubles, totally relaxed. All that's left is to RESIST TEMPTATION and not apply anymore. Not that I can until December is over.

So, yes! Hi guys. Happy holidays. ♥

EDIT #2: Oh, Suki and Angie? Go on ahead with the FFVII playthrough without me, if you haven't already. I'll catch up when I can.

And Kat? POST THOSE DAMN MEMES WHERE I CAN SEE THEM. 8|

EDIT #3: HANKYYYYYY
C-CAN YOU PLEASE SAVE YUKIKO FROM THE PEDO VAMPIRE D:

DUDE TODAY HAS BEEN SO GOOD

I get a call yesterday to say that I've got a shift 8am to noon to cover for some stuff, which is fine; more ca$$$h for Jonesy next payday, right? So I get there at 8, do some thangs, and at around 10am, the boss says "...yeah, there's nothing else for you to do. Just head home and we'll say you worked five hours."

I'm naturally like, "Dude, alright :D " and head out! Take the train into the city, grab a coffee, and pound out another 1,000ish words on the novel for the first time in too long. Pretty pumped, head home, check my RP places since McDonald's free wifi sucks balllllls.

AND I FIND OUT
MY BAND AU
HAS GOTTEN A THIRD MEMBER numnums I love you so much marry me

It is so awesome to see this thing taking off, you have no idea. My dream is to have, like, the whole cast tripping around the DR playing instruments and shit, but even having two other people with me makes me so, so happy. Today has been the best day I've had in weeks.

TL;DR SHIT IS LOOKING UP FOR JONESY
SO PUMPED
YEAHHHHHHHH

I might tl;dr edit this post a bit more later TOO LATE, but this thought just occurred to me since I was trawling for TWEWY stuff, and it's cleared up a lot about why I like Neku, as a character.

this got a little long )

I will warn you guys now, you might hear a lot about Saints Row 2 as I progress through the game. The characters and the narrative are just a great deal stronger than the GTA series, so there's a lot more to talk about.

Anyway, the last mission I did? I drove to a weapon store, picked up a geiger counter, drove to a dock to steal a speedboat and go over to the power plant (nuclear, on an island) to locate some toxic waste with said counter, killed a bunch of security guards while waiting for my ride back to show up. Then I proceeded to shoot down three helicopters with an assault rifle from my own helicopter while my bro held the pilot at gunpoint. Then the plot dictated that we crash-land (presumably the pilot died because hur, side character), drive to a tattoo parlour on the opposite end of the city and lace the tattoo ink with the toxic waste.

The practical upshot of which is that one of the rival bosses gets a lot of tattooes. The next one he got was on the side of his face and it proceeded to burn his skin off before the cutscene ended.

I...am still not sure whether this game is taking itself seriously or being as ridiculous as is humanly possible. That's probably a good thing.

Also: I did that entire mission while dressed and shaped, surprisingly closely, to this person. Which just makes it aaaaall the better.

So I introed my made-it-for-the-heck-of-it Yosuke, [info]thatjunessound, over at [info]smtdressingroom. Just because I felt like it.

...is it worrying that he comes really easily to me?

You know what I think I dislike more than anything? Repetitiveness.

There is nothing that turns me off faster than the same old, same old patterns, where nothing ever changes. I'm sure this is true to an extent for everyone, but I just get...almost aggressively bored when presented with something repeated over and over. I'm not one to advocate change for change's sake or ~*REVOLUTION*~ or something, but really. Small variations keep you from plunging into depression at everything being the same, I think.

It's why I use different words all the time. It's why I go to different places when I go out. It's why I heave that sigh the Skype kids know so well when OH LOOK. ANOTHER MOVIE WITH THE EXACT SAME PREMISE AND PLOT AS THE LAST. GO, ROMANTIC COMEDIES.

(Speaking of, I saw the Surrogates yesterday. It was good, but kinda felt like half a movie. I checked my phone for the time when things were just starting to ramp up, and there was only abbout 15 minutes of movie left.)

tl;dr the same shit over and over bores the hell out of jonesy

That reminds me, I was gonna posit a discussion thingie to you guys, since the last few went really well. Take this phrase:

"I love you, but I'm not in love with you."

What does that mean to you? Thoughts, phrasing, cookies, it's all good.

I also caved today and dumped about $180 on a used Xbox 360 and Fallout 3. Say goodbye to the next chunk of forever, Jonesy!

Edit #1: It was pretty cool, though. I'd come back from the LAN cafe where PC Fallout 3 had crashed like five times in a row - but I'd caved in the whole Vault's heads with a baseball bat while playing as an albino chick in a baseball cap called Bonersaur, so my bloodlust was sated - and I thought man. I need to get a 360 so I can take my time.

Then I proceeded to AGONISE AGONISE OH GOD SPENDING MONEY AAAAAAGH for the next hour or so as I shopped around. I eventually ended up in my regular mall's Gametraders where I was staring at the 360s going AAAGH AAAAGH. SO EXPENSIVE. A NEW ONE IS $400 AND THE GAME IS $100. MUST CALCULATE FINANCES.

Then one of the ladies who works there popped a used 360 into the display case. The price? Fuckin' $149.95. And I had $53 on credit there from trading shit in.

I'm still not too psyched about paying full price for Fallout 3 itself, since I try not to do that, but it is done. And the best part?

The absolute best part?

They forgot to take out the game they were using to test the console when they packed it up. Free copy of Viva Pinata, bitches.

Then...work tomorrow, probably got a date with Suzanne on Thursday, and at this rate I'm gonna hit 22,000 words on the novel in the next few days.

It's been a good week.

Edit #2: CUTTING FOR LENGTH )

Dear Screenwriters,

No gamer in the history of everywhere ever has ever used the term 'Game On' in a sincere fashion. You may think you're getting into the subculture when you use it in the one episode that has the character not flailing spasmodically at a controller while 8-bit sounds bloop out of the TV, but you are not.

In fact? Anyone who did use that term would immediately gain the ire of their compatriots, since it is a clear marker of someone who is not a gamer trying to be so.

Kind regards,
Everyone everywhere.

...and now I feel better! :D

Six games of Freecell won in a row. Who is the man.

In other news, the mother left for the sister's place today. I have the house to myself from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon. PARTY TIME? I THINK SO.

(By party, obviously, we mean sit around with no pants on playing videogames. But still!)

OH OH AND

AND

AND )

I THINK THERE WAS MORE BUT I FORGOT IT

LET'S TALK ABOUT POKEMON INSTEAD

EDIT #2: ALSO, I have an announcement to make. It's well-known that I'm not fond of internet lingo - lol, using :) in an insincere manner, all that jazz - but I have come to a realisation.

Cut for rage )

...and that's all.

I am so weak.

But at least this has caused me to realise that a lot of MGF's stuff is actually...very repetitive, lyrics-wise. It's still brilliant, of course, but they really will only have a couple dozen words in a song. If the guitars weren't so damn sexy - and yes that descriptor is entirely apt, this is fucking sexy music - I might be disillusioned. Damn you, Pinky Beecroft. Why did this band have to break up, bawwww

OH AND UH. ALSO. Anyone here actually played Dragon Quest 5? I have questions.

So for this character-reminds-me-of-you meme, so far, I've got: Souji Seta, Zelos Wilder, Spike Seigel, Apollo Justice, Drake Redcrest, Razputin, and the goddamn Gambit.

Since when was I so completely awesome?

In other news, uh...I wrote this and am oddly proud of it?

Oh, and I ordered a new laptop yesterday! It should be getting here soon, ahhh, I'll finally have a worthwhile computer to call my own~ ♥

You know you're absent-minded when you almost wash your body with shampoo, rather than the soapy stuff.

You know you're an idiot when it happens three times in one week and you only catch yourself before you're done once.

On the upside, now I smell like strawberries.

So I got some new shoes, the first season boxset of Leverage, rearranged the loungeroom (somehow, since apparently 'helping' = 'standing around wiping things and going into raging bitchfits whenever she's asked to do anything' in my mother's language) and actually did some work on the novel.

So far so good! I entirely thank [info]firefly99 for pointing me towards Q10. It's gonna help so much with getting me to focus while I'm writing, gawwwwd.

...now back to derping around in GTA. :B

MEANWHILE, AT JONESY'S NIECE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY... )

Oh, sister. You have the best taste in chopping boards.

BRB BEING AN EMO IN TASTEFUL GLASS ACCOUTREMENTS

Also, a meme! Stolen from [info]rmarques.

Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" (or you can just ask for the meme, I won't mind) and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

Also +1, for my Persona broskis, uh...there's...a Neopets-ish game that my nieces showed me tonight. It looks alright, but, um...

It's called Mara Pets.

Yeahhhhhh.

We currently have one more toothbrush in our bathroom than we do people residing in the house. I wonder if that signifies anything.

A million years late again, but Fahrenheit is really good. It's like an adventure game with a good deal less of the DO IT RIGHT OR YOU'LL DIE of the Sierra generation.
