DUDE TODAY HAS BEEN SO GOOD

I get a call yesterday to say that I've got a shift 8am to noon to cover for some stuff, which is fine; more ca$$$h for Jonesy next payday, right? So I get there at 8, do some thangs, and at around 10am, the boss says "...yeah, there's nothing else for you to do. Just head home and we'll say you worked five hours."

I'm naturally like, "Dude, alright :D " and head out! Take the train into the city, grab a coffee, and pound out another 1,000ish words on the novel for the first time in too long. Pretty pumped, head home, check my RP places since McDonald's free wifi sucks balllllls.

AND I FIND OUT
MY BAND AU
HAS GOTTEN A THIRD MEMBER numnums I love you so much marry me

It is so awesome to see this thing taking off, you have no idea. My dream is to have, like, the whole cast tripping around the DR playing instruments and shit, but even having two other people with me makes me so, so happy. Today has been the best day I've had in weeks.

TL;DR SHIT IS LOOKING UP FOR JONESY
SO PUMPED
YEAHHHHHHHH

So, it looks like that if all goes well, I might be travelling next year. I'm socking away at least $400 a month from the paycheck, more if I get more hours, and even with the retarded cost of flights and cost of living, I think...yeah.

Hopefully, I'll be in New York by around May next year. I dunno for how long; awhile. If I can find a job, I might stay a few months.

Heads up, Americans. Jonesy's coming over.

And yes, Emma, that means I'm probably crashing on your couch. I'm sure that'd go over great with your parents!

Okay, so despite it not being entirely fiscally responsible, I picked up the 100 Classic Books Collection (DS) and Eternal Sonata (Xbox) games today. I only have praise for the books one, since it's actually really intuitive and they have all this lovely ambient music on it. I'm about nine chapters into Moby Dick at the moment.

Eternal Sonata is fun too. But I just came across my first antagonist.

And you'll never fucking believe it.

He's voiced by goddamn Adachi-baby.

I damn near squealed.

Also, a meme! A simple one.

Don't make an edit or change anything. Just post what you have on your Ctrl+V command right now. We will all learn something new about each other.

For myself, it is this! )

I will warn you guys now, you might hear a lot about Saints Row 2 as I progress through the game. The characters and the narrative are just a great deal stronger than the GTA series, so there's a lot more to talk about.

Anyway, the last mission I did? I drove to a weapon store, picked up a geiger counter, drove to a dock to steal a speedboat and go over to the power plant (nuclear, on an island) to locate some toxic waste with said counter, killed a bunch of security guards while waiting for my ride back to show up. Then I proceeded to shoot down three helicopters with an assault rifle from my own helicopter while my bro held the pilot at gunpoint. Then the plot dictated that we crash-land (presumably the pilot died because hur, side character), drive to a tattoo parlour on the opposite end of the city and lace the tattoo ink with the toxic waste.

The practical upshot of which is that one of the rival bosses gets a lot of tattooes. The next one he got was on the side of his face and it proceeded to burn his skin off before the cutscene ended.

I...am still not sure whether this game is taking itself seriously or being as ridiculous as is humanly possible. That's probably a good thing.

Also: I did that entire mission while dressed and shaped, surprisingly closely, to this person. Which just makes it aaaaall the better.

Pros:
- Got my Red-Ring'd Xbox 360 replaced for no charge today with a newer model
- Tried Saints Row 2 on [info]doxinator's recommendation. Forgoing my first try at the aunt's place of an obese topless Asian man with a blonde afro, I have made a white chick with a black beehive hairdo in a cocktail dress. All the better to cap some asses with!
- Finished Fallout 3. That ending was shocking, but in another way, I couldn't see how anything else could have happened.
- Got Yukari accepted into [info]discedo! Delicious canonmates, mmyes.
- Picked up some new clothes when Kim took me shopping the other day. +5 fashionable!
- Fucked your mom.

Cons:
- Fucking Xbox red ringed on me! D:
- uuuuugh all these journals to add what is the deal
- Had to drop Kumatora in order to keep myself free. To be honest, I just feel constrained having more than two characters in a game. Even if the AC is low, it's just a weight on my mind. She was done there, anyway.
- Generally just...really friggin' tired all the time, due to that real life drama. It's ebbing down now, but still. Ugh. So tired all the time.
- Fucked your mom.

FUCKING AWESOMES:
- FUSED MARA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PERSONA 4
FELT SO VALIDATED GUYS
YOU HAVE NO IDEA
FUCKING MARA

So here's that talking aimlessly meme I should have done awhile ago! Shit was difficult over the last week and I really didn't have the proper levels of radical to do it properly. But here it is now!

And now, to bed.

Oh, Internet.

Feeling much better, too! Drive to write is back, RPing is going well, friends are back on track and I finally, finally finished Dragon Quest VIII after leaving it for about seven months. The urge to play the protag is...worrying. I'd really want a cast to play him off, though, and that's about as likely as a golden penguin.

Fallout 3 continues to amuse. Only in the Wasteland can ruthlessly murdering an entire town give you Good Karma, simply because they were slave-traders. Apparently there was an entire sub-quest where you go to a hidden orphanage and accept a quest to save the slave kids from the slaver town and THEN go there, but I had no idea of that. I just went in and killed them because SLAVE-TRADERS. B|

Anyway! Don't mind me, I just love the morality choices in that game. And the way the head explode. LET'S DO A MEME AND ALL MOVE ON.

Um. Right. Meme. I can find one of those. Surely the f-list has...wow, no they haven't. Weird. Alright, no prob. Uh...

OKAY. TELL ME WHAT SONG ~*REMINDS YOU OF ME*~. And why.

Links optional but highly encouraged!

OKAY SCRATCH THAT. Give me more questions for another TALKING AIMLESSLY MEME! Pyra has inspired me once again and I am so charming that I think I can make lightning strike twice, clearly.

Also: christ no I am not doing Nano. My motivation is far too sporadic to get one of those done, and bad writing happens when I force myself.

Holy shit, I created Apollo's account exactly one year ago. October 27th, 2008. Happy...anniversary? You've lasted longer than anyone else.

Though fff, I think I know why; I might have waxed lyrical about this to other people, but the boy really resonates with me like no-one else I've ever played. In a way, I look up to him. Despite all the bad things that have happened in his life, he goes forward with that passionate heart burning red and commits himself to what he does. He doesn't stand for lies and mistruths, and while I don't really want to be the stick in the mud he can be, I still admire his resolve. For a time, while I didn't find myself thinking 'what would Apollo do here?', I still ended up acting a bit like him. Same deal with Souji Seta, but for different reasons.

So yes. One year of being the Pollybug! Go me. Go him.

EDIT:

...thanks, Internet. No, really.

Here's those pictures I was talking about! None of me just in eyeliner, alas, but I'm sure you'll all survive.

Now if my Internet connection doesn't speed up sometime soon, I swear I'm just about to break down into sobs. This is so frustrating, my god, how could dialup people ever handle this.

Left the house at 9am yesterday; had to buy a costume for a bro's 21st that night. Was informed about this on Wednesday, but whatever.

Ran around the city like a headless chicken until I found a totally awesome zombie outfit. Rented that shit and ran into the birthday boy and his girlfriend (my best friend, by the by, the bro was just a bro by assocation at the beginning) and ended up picking up Kat #1 to head back to their place to help prepare.

Spent the next three or so hours running around with balloons and ribbons and shit, getting things ready. Was blasted before the party even started. By which I mean TIRED, not drunk. No-booze Christian family, you know how it is.

Got some ballin' zombie makeup done by Kat #1. Many pictures were taken which I will show you guys once they make the rounds at Facebook. Sang far too much karaoke. Imma let you finish'd the whole party.

Got home at 1am today and slept for four hours. Somehow still woke up at 5am. Goddamn body clock.

And now I have a ten-hour shift at work! This will probably end horribly at some point, but whatever.

Yesterday, I think, was good.

...I don't think I got all the eyeliner off, though. Tips for that?

Me: *goes out! Buys new jeans, sits down with a coffee and pounds out 1000 words for the novel.*
Me: Okay, awesome! I really shouldn't buy a game so soon after being paid, though, considering I just bought that Xbox 360. Fallout 3 will keep me occupied for ages.
Gametraders: Nope, nothing here!
Toys'r'Us: Nothing here either!
Electronics Boutique: RAIDOU KUZUNOHA VS. THE SOULLESS ARMY
Me: ...
Electronics Boutique: FOR 25 BUCKS. :D
Me: ...fuck.

Status update: it is pretty good so far! I do love me some 1920s action, even if Jonesy Boat the 14th Raidou is actually kinda weird as shit. The levelling system is interesting, though. Now if only healing wasn't expensive as shit and Alps didn't CAST DIA AND PULINPA OVER AND OVER WASTING ALL THEIR MP IMMEDIATELY AAH. That would be lovely.

It's definitely hooking me more than Digital Devil Saga 2 did, though. Props to dat.

Also, for anyone I DIDN'T spaz about this too: I got Minato-style headphones last week! They are SO awesome, you have no idea. I am so happy with this purchase.

...I wonder what would happen if you tried to use two Evokers at once.

Friends cut! If you're reading this, I love you. ♥

Otherwise, it's been a really damn lazy week. I've played copious amounts of Fallout 3, actually managed to stay inside the whole day for the first time in about a fortnight, and just done a lot of uninteresting stuff. Though there's a costume/birthday party I'm going to Friday as zombie House, so that'll be cool. Not getting any writing done, save for tags, but mmrph. Can't really bring myself to care. My headaches have been a little too harsh to focus properly, anyway.

I'm finding myself kinda happy that [info]theoregontrail died around the same time as I dropped Rude from [info]paradisa, though; having that weight off my shoulders is pretty good. Frankly, it was just getting tiring, keeping activity check with all of those. I did think it'd mean I'd write a bit more with my energies redirected, but ahurhur, apparently not.

I do rather mourn not playing Apollo as much anymore...even though I've been ferrying him over to [info]8_dressing again to keep that delicious love/hate going with Franziska. I think my enthusiasm for Yukari might be waning a touch, though. She's lasted about as long as Apollo by now, and that's a long time to be writing one character. Maybe Yukiko's booting her out?

Nothing else comes to mind! Fallout 3 is eating my life.

IMPROMPTU MEME

Tell me about your day, f-list! What was the last cool thing to happen to you?

...also I feel vaugely dirty for shipping Bluenato/Rednato as hard as I do in Persona 3, but damned do I never want to stop.

Goddamnit.

I have finally come to the realisation that yes, without argument, I will buy a PSP just for the female protag in Persona 3 Portable.

Thank you, Atlus. I am now your whore as well.

Edit: And jumping on this little bandwagon as well, since [info]zarla's recent posts motivated me to pick the game up again:

I feel good lately! Writing is going smoother, life is getting happier, and I'm thinking about scaling back RP a bit just so I'm not killing entire days on it as often.

Though GOOD GOD, I did not expect Apollo's emopost to explode like that. Fucking 400 comments! I alternately want to kill myself and stare in wonder at being so popular.

Also picked up Ape Escape 2! The same monkey-catching fun as the ones before and after, but this protag...my god, it's like he's functionally retarded.

Anyway! Have a meme.

recommend a friend

And, uh...writer people/Persona buddies? I don't often link to my porn yeah right, but I would actually like opinions today. See, I'm doing this Yosuke/Yukiko thing, and it's the kinda deal where it's very easy to slip into OOC territory. Let me know your thoughts, if you would be so kind!

TL;DR:

Six games of Freecell won in a row. Who is the man.

In other news, the mother left for the sister's place today. I have the house to myself from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon. PARTY TIME? I THINK SO.

(By party, obviously, we mean sit around with no pants on playing videogames. But still!)

OH OH AND

AND

AND )

I THINK THERE WAS MORE BUT I FORGOT IT

LET'S TALK ABOUT POKEMON INSTEAD

EDIT #2: ALSO, I have an announcement to make. It's well-known that I'm not fond of internet lingo - lol, using :) in an insincere manner, all that jazz - but I have come to a realisation.

Cut for rage )

...and that's all.

Why, what's this? It appears to be a bandwagon! I think I'm gonna need to jump on this.

--unfortunately I am not a talker at all, so if I do it, I'm gonna need something to say. So, let's cause an unholy fusion of memes and get you guys to Ask Me Anything! Protip, I ramble like a mofo about Persona and Ace Attorney fandoms - or pretty much anything I'm into, especially RP - but it's aaaaaaall good. Kat, I know what you're thinking. No.

Anyway yeah. Questions! I don't trust myself not to look at them before then, so fff, sorry if the answers seem...rehearsed? I dunno.

This post brought to you by What Jonesy Does When Bored at Work.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: So I was walking up the hill near my house to get to the bus-stop on my way to work, right? Ordinary enough. My dad had brought home a pair of black dress shoes - gotta wear 'em to work, you see - for me. Only $15! Bargain.

Not so much of a bargain when the heels begin crumbling under my feet as I jog up the hill. I had to use my lunch-time on my stopover at the mall to quickly buy a new pair of shoes, just so I wasn't trailing rubber behind me the whole day.

GJ, shoe store. On the upside, the pair I bought are actually really great.
